Daily Playlist #3: Fashionably Fierce!
When your a freespirited, musically bipolar and absolutely creative juices obsessed lovebug like me, you need a soundtrack to make your day (and adventures) go while you work... Or play. Maybe, it's a little of both, Either case, it's all good.
While this song should have been on Panic! At The Disco's last album, it wasn't but, that still dooesn't make it any less of a gem. Baroque Pop inspired big marching band overtures are my thing and this has it. The fact that it's a collaboration with Fun. one of my favorite bands in general just makes it better.
Though I am dying after hearing their latest single, I still hold a special place for Yeah Yeah Yeah's devilishly fierce track "Heads Will Roll", especially the biting and crazy A-Trak remix. It kicks, pulls me and ges me dancing in glitter every time. I love it!
Recently, I started re-listening to Vampire Weekend's "Contra" album as inspiration for my own upcoming ep album. I'll never get over the uncompromising writing or the hints of multiple genre inspirations in the music. The underlying almost political undertones of their music get's me everytime, too. Can't wait for their latest, "Modern Vampires of the City" to come out in May. It's sure to be genius in every way.
Travis Garland, what can I say about this sexy and smooth crooner. He's deeply underrated and greatly experimental with his Pop / R&B / Hiphop vibe. His collaboration with JoJo on the song "Paint" is just down right naughty and cemented my love for him. His releases "Fashionably Late" and it's sequel are just beyond delicious to me. Soulful and charming, very cocky and very much a flirt, just like the artist.
Both Pink and Marina & The Diamonds are examples of bold music that bounce between genres with out destroying the source sound. "The Truth About Love" is particularly beautiful, funny, poppy, hard and devastating in every way. It draws me in and it's like a personal scrapbook in and of itself. "The Family Jewels" is one of those albums that both intrigues and confuses with it's very sound but, draws you in with every listen. I can't help but, be obsessed with it.
And that's my playlist for today, Leave a girl a comment and tell me, What is the soundtrack of your day? Go on and show me some love, thanks!
